- Key identification features : Medium-sized trees with thin, wrinkled bark, blaze reddish brown, very aromatic. Leaves alternate and opposite on the same twig, 6-15 x 3.7-7 cm, elliptic, acuminate and 3-nerved; petiole 0.7-1.2 cm. Flowers yellowish white, 0.6 cm across, perianth of 6 unequal segments, silky hairy. Perfect stamens 9, the outer 6 without glands, the inner 3 with 2 glands, innermost of 3 short staminodes. Drupe 1.25 cm long, egg-shaped, black when ripe.
