  • Key identification features : Shrubs, sometimes twining, or small trees, 3-6 m tall, to 10 cm d.b.h. Shoots glabrous or with scattered, white branched trichomes, promptly glabrescent; branches terete, slender, spineless or sometimes with small stipular spines more than 1 mm; cataphylls subulate, 2-3 mm wide at base. Fruit globose, 8-10 mm in diam.; stipe ca. 1 mm thick. Seeds 1 or 2[or 3] per fruit.
