  • Key identification features : Small, rigid, sparingly branched undershrubs; branches terete or laxly striate, scaberulous; Leaves alternate, shortly petioled, elliptic-lanceolate or obovate, acute, base attenuate, margins remotely serrate, scabrid above, villous or pubescent beneath; Heads up to 35-flowered, solitary or few in terminal corymbs; Involucral bracts multiseriate, oblong-elliptic, aristate-acute; Florets deep purple; Achenes glandular between the ribs; Pappus white or dull white.
