  • Comments / notes : A medium sized palm and grows extremely fast once established. The Wallichia disticha is monocarpic, which means it will only fruit once, and will die after flowering. This species will flower after about 15 years of frond growth, and will flower for about two years before it dies.
  • Key identification features : Leaves grow in two vertical columns on opposite sides of the trunk, this is one of the most intriguing and sought out palms on the globe. The numerous fronds are narrow and fishtail-shaped with leaflets arranged in clusters and spread in several planes, giving the leaf a feathery appearance.
