  • Comments / notes : Restricted growth range and grows typically on dry hills, often rocky ground and on precipitous hill sides up to 1100m. Also cultivated for its valuable timber. Yeilds a red sap from its bark when cut-open which is highly medicinal.
  • Key identification features : Very pretty and valuable moderate sized tree. Bark blackish brown, deeply cleft into rectangular plates. Leaves slightly emarginate. Flowers in racems.
