Leaves lanceolate or elliptic-oblong, closely spaced below the inflorescence, cuneate at base, acuminate at apex; sheaths tubular, viscid. Inflorescence terminal, thyrsoid panicles. Flowers 6-8 mm across; perianth glabrous, clawed, white. Capsules ellipsoid, shining blue. Seeds many, finely pitted
