  • Key identification features : Flowers large, c. 8 cm across, bright lilac blotched with violet and with a yellow throat; falls oblong-wedge-shaped narrowed to a bearded stalk. Standards with small oblong blades and long stalks; corolla-tube c. 12 mm. Spathes green, to 10 cm. Leaves variable, glossy above, glaucous beneath, linear long-pointed, usually 6-10 mm broad; stems stout, 30-60 cm. Rhizome stout, creeping. Fruit cylindrical to 6 cm.
