  • Comments / notes : Eriocaulon gopalakrishnanum is seen in hilly regions between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. The top of these hills is flat with lateritic soils. Geologically, these are called Mesa which support a characteristic herbaceous flora along with grasses during the monsoon season.
  • Key identification features : Leaves and spathe are pappilose in nature with scabrous peduncle, apex of involucral bract is entire, ovate, and concave and floral bracts are slightly keeled. Seeds are obovate in shape, dark brown in colour, with apiculate apex and with 3 – 6 projections.
