  • Habitat : Coasts and tidal forests. An understory tree in limestone forests. In the back-mangrove forest; also occurring inland at elevations up to 400 metres
  • Comments / notes : The red to dark brown wood is heavy, hard, close-grained, but not very durable. It is only available in small quantities and is used for construction purposes, turning, decorative veneers and inlaid work. The wood can be used for fuel and to make charcoal.
  • Key identification features : An evergreen tree with a dense crown growing from 4 - 26 metres tall. The bole can be 30cm in diameter
