- Key identification features : A lofty wide-crowned tree with latex, grows up to 50 m high; Leaves simple, alternate, ovate to elliptic-ovate, entire to indistinctly dentate margin, smooth above and slightly downy underneath; Trees dioecious; Inflorescence axillary, Flowers small; male flowers in 15-20 cm-long white catkins; female flowers in 5-7 cm-long, spindle-shaped, green spikes; Fruit a syncarp, as long as the female spike, fleshy with several tiny seeds embedded in the pulp; Bark is grey-brown, thick, rough and faintly tuberculate, little fissured.
