  • Key identification features : An annual grass with stems 50-80 cm, about 2 mm thick, erect or somewhat geniculate at the base; nodes velvet-hairy; Sheaths shorter than the internodes, somewhat loose; blades flat, becoming involute, apices narrowed; Panicles 10-20 cm long, to 3 cm wide at the base, loosely contracted to somewhat open; Spikelets 3.2-6.8 mm, 3-veined; lowest lemmas usually exceeding the glumes; anthers 1-1.8 mm long.
