  • Comments / notes : Wood dark red, close grained and tough, hard, and flexible. It is used in India for making carts and in Madras for making Masula boats. The fruits resemble a ships’ propellor, but the blade is turned both ways. Leaves turning bright yellow before falling.
  • Key identification features : A large deciduous tree with a brownish-grey, smooth, thin bark, fissured lengthwise, cut fibrous, pink turning brown. Flowers on slender pedicels, in large fragrant panicles. Fruit with radiating, membranous, veined wings.
