  • Comments / notes : Fairly good populations exist in the Shola of Anamalai and Palni Hills. In some part of Anamudi Shola National Park, indigenous people use the wood for house construction.
  • Key identification features : Trees which grows to a height of 12 m; surface of the bark is pale brown, smooth and surface is inner blush pink; branchlets are quadrangular in shape; shiny grayish- yellow beneath and margins are slightly revolute; lateral nerves are 12–16 in pairs, seen at regular intervals, oblique, horizontal brochidodromus and prominent on both surfaces; Inflorescence is lateral on old leaf scars or axillary, reduced metabotryoid, peduncle flattened towards the apex; Fruits are oblate or obovoid and dark purple
