  • Key identification features : Plant acculecent, busy rattans. Leaves pinnate 8–10 m long, petiole coverd with dense, rusty indumentums;leaflets alternate, coriaceous, groups of 2–4 on each sideof the rachis on lower part; upper part of the rachisunarmed, trigonous, straight, leaflets lanceolate, distinctly3 nerved, bristly spinous on upper nerves; middle leaflets70–95 cm long, 4–7 cm broad; lower leaflets very short,narrow. Male inflorescence on robust axis, bracts andprophyll covered with rusty indumentums, acuminate,lanceolate, primary branches very long, each bearingrachillae, rachilla coming out from the opening of fertilebract, each 5–9 cm long; flowers 6–8 mm long, exertedfrom the bracts, calyx deeply 3 lobed, corolla little longerthan calyx, divided into 3 segments, stamens 6, antherslinear oblong. Female i nflorescence less branched;flowers ovoid, calyx membranous, 3 lobed, corollaleathery, ovary 3 celled. Fruit obovoid, 3–4 cm in diameter,pericarp thin, scales dark brown, 5–11 mm long, 2–4 mmbroad at base
