  • Key identification features : Small to moderate-sized evergreen tree. Bark smooth, lenticellate, easily recognized by pendulous reddish hairly whorled and crowded leaves at the tip of bare twigs. Young leaves reddish-silky-pubescent with 3 basal nerves. Male flowers golden yellow in clusters on branches below the leaves. Berry ellipsoid, seated on enlarged perianth cup. Red when ripe.
