Comments / notes : Extensively cultivated throughout. Wood is used for building purposes. The fibrous mesocarp of the fruit yeilds the coir fibre used for ropes, nets. Sap of the peduncle yeilds toddy. The kernel of the fruit is edible and yeilds an edible oil.
