  • Comments / notes : The plant with the generic name 'Chassalia' is the widely accepted name, however some taxonomists have used 'Chasalia', as a spelling variant.
  • Key identification features : Tall shrubs; Leaves oblanceolate, abruptly acuminate; stipule connate, ovate, membraneous; Flowers in cymes, terminal, panicled, glabrous, subsessile; calyx long, globose, lobes ovate; corolla 8 mm long, curved, lobes ovate, obtuse; stamens 5, included; anthers linear. Ovary 2-celled, ovule one in each cell; style 2-fid at apex. Fruit 6 mm across, globose, glabrous, 2-seeded.
