- Key identification features : A small herb with a tuberous root. Leaves in whorls of 4, very unequal, subsessile, ovate or orbicular-ovate, obtuse, glabrous. Flowers 4 merous, in terminal 3 - many-flowered simple umbels. Calyx-tube short; lobes ovate. Corolla white, rotate, lobes valvate. Stamens inserted on the corolla tube. Ovary 2-celled with numerous axile ovules. Capsule crowned with persistent calyx limb. Seeds minute
