- Comments / notes : Distinguished from Syzygium hemisphericum based on number of secondary nerves (6-8 in Syzygium laetum and 8-10 in Syzygium hemisphericum); found at elevations of about 200-1250 m.
- Key identification features : A small evergreen tree with slender terete drooping branches. Leaves are opposite, lanceolate and acuminate. Flowers occur in drooping, terminal, corymbose cymes. Flowers are with many scarlet red or white projecting stamens. Fruits 2-3 cm., ellipsoid, reddish-brown. Bark is brown and minutely scaly.
