  • Comments / notes : Chlorophytum sharmae is distinct from other Indian species in its narrow linear leaves with serrulate hyaline margins and late flowering.
  • Key identification features : Roots are cylindrical which forms tubers at distal parts, and it terminates with fascicles of secondary roots, Perianth segments are 6 in number, arranged in two whorls of 3 in each and it is recurved; outer perianth segments are white, slightly green-tinged at apex lanceolate and 3-nerved, margins are hyaline with acute apex; inner perianth are segments white, linear-lanceolate and 5-nerved, margins are hyaline with acute apex, filaments are 0.6 – 0.9 cm in length, white coloured, smooth and longer than the anthers; anthers are 0.4 – 0.5 cm in length, dull yellowoish and apiculate, pedicel is 1.1 – 1.4 cm in length, articulated above the middle, upper part is thicker and is cylindrical, 0.3 – 0.5 cm in length where as lower part is 0.9 – 1.1 cm in length respectively and the chromosome number (2n) of the species is 42.
