Key identification features : A small deciduous tree. Leaves are large up to 45 cm. long, pinnately compound with 7-13 leaflets. Leaflets are smooth, ovate with acute apex, slightly asymmetrical at the base. Flowers are tiny, whitish in dense panicles. Both male and female flowers are borne on the same plant. Fruit is an ovoid drupe with 1-5 seeds, green but ripening yellow. Bark is brown with faint longitudinal fissures.

Comments : The sour fruit is much sought after for pickling. Leaves have the resinous smell similar to that of mango.
