- Key identification features : A large erect deciduous tree that generally flowers with the new foliage. Bark grey-brown with irregular short cracks, exfoliating in thin, fibrous longitudinal flakes. Leaves are compound with 7-9 leaflets, which are broad at the free end, either rounded or with a small cleft at the apex. Flowers are small, white and appear on an axillary panicle, which is shorter than the leaves. Stamens are nine with their filaments fused. The fruit is 1-4-seeded, rather flattened pod.
