Key identification features : Moderate-sized tree. Branches are with curved red prickles. Leaves are alternate and pinnately compound with glands present on the rachis. Flowers are small, pale yellow, in terminal spikes. Pods are dark brown.

Comments : Frequent on dry laterite in some places. Wood is used for agricultural implements; the heartwood also yeilds cutch and katha which is of commercial importance.
