Comments : Common on hills of deciduous forests to 1400 m, also in farmlands and in plantations. Fruits are used for tannins and dyes. Plant is medicinal, fruits are used in preparation of 'Triphala Churna' (native preparation along with E.officinalis Gaert. & T.bellirica (Gaert.) Roxb. for respiratory disorders).
