  • Key identification features : A lofty and handsome evergreen resinous tree with hairy branches. Bole buttressed. Bark is grey, exfoliating and exudes a resin, blaze aromatic; Leaves are large, odd pinnate, bright yellow when young turning to velvety-crimson; Inflorescence is a large panicle. Flowers are polygamous and 3-merous with a prominent hypanthium and a lobed disk. Stamens are about 6. Fruit is a drupe.

  • Comments : On hills above 1000 m in evergreen and shola forests. The resin is highly medicinal and also used as frankiscence.
