  • Key identification features : A small deciduous tree. Leaves long, 2-3-pinnate, ovate-elliptic, glabrous, acuminate, entire, rounded at base. Flowers pinkish-purple to maroon in colour, opening in evening. Fruits flat. seeds winged all round except at the base.

  • Flower, Fruit : July- March
  • Comments : Occasional in mixed deciduous forests along streams, rivers and cool sides of the hills in the forests. Also planted in avenues and gardens. When the leaves fall off on the ground, it looks like a pile of broken limbs or bones, hence its name.
