  • Key identification features : An aquatic plant, stem is rooting at nodes, usually with basal part being submerged. Upper leaves are usually opposite or in whorls. Flowers are in terminal racemes, peduncle is glandular-hispid with pedicels being up to a cm long. Corolla is white tinged with purple dots.
  • Habit : Herb
  • Comments : Based on the morphological evidences, such as large purple flowers, highly dissected leaves and being present in permanent aquatic pools in L.aquatica, L.indica (L.) Druce has been seperated from this species with smaller, white, glabrous flowers, with lesser dissected leaves and being present in seasonal pools.
