  • Key identification features : A moderate-sized to large evergreen tree often found along mangrove swamps. Bark is dark-grey and smooth on old stem. Leaves are simple, obovate and large, with an entire margin, lateral veins are close and parallel. Calyx is 8 lobed, petals are orbicular, 2- fid, lacerate and clawed. Stamens are 16, filaments are fleshy, dilated. Fruit is a one-seeded berry. Fleshy and edible fruits.
