  • Key identification features : Tall annual grass with an erect, long culm. Leaf blade is broad, Leaf sheath is glabrous. Inflorescence is in long racemes with crowded spikelets. Spikelets long, plump, yellowish and pubescent.

  • Native : Tropical Africa, Asia
  • Comments : Cultivated in lower hills from 200-600 m, along river bed.
  • Conservation Status : Least Concern (LC)
