  • Key identification features : Densely foliaceous evergreen tree, 12-15 m tall. Trunk is short, crown broad. Leaves are chartaceous, rhomboid, lanceolate with two glandular-domatias present along the midrib of the leaf. Flowers are white, mildly fragrant in axillary and terminal panicles. Calyx 4-lobed, corolla rotate-campanulate, 4-lobed, valvate and spreading. Drupe is purplish black, ovoid, pendulous.

  • Comments : Rare, on hills along banks of streams, in shady ravines and in sholas up to 1500 m.
