  • Key identification features : A moderate size deciduous tree. Bark bitter, bluish-grey, dark brown or greyish-brown, thick, exfoliating in large plates. Sapwood small, whitish.

  • Comments : Frequent in mixed deciduous forests. The tree is drought and fire resistant. Bark is used as a febrifuge in diarrhoea and dysentry. Wood takes fine polish, so used for furniture.
