  • Key identification features : An erect woody much branched herb with simple, ovate-lanceolate alternate leaves having a pair of spines at their base. Flowers are solitary (2 cm across), yellow with red tinge, axillary, soiltary, 2-5 in clusters. Calyx campanulate, corolla yellow. Schizocarps enclosed within the calyx.
