- Key identification features : A bulbiferous perennial herb. Leaves are strap-like on a shortened stem with parallel veins. Flowers are solitary, about 1-1.5 cm across, attractive and borne on a long stalk that arises from the base of the plant. Fruit is a three-lobed capsule.

- Comments : Common up to 1600 m, on the floor of scrub jungles, moist rocky terrain and slopes of hills, especially on clayey soil.
