Habitat : Evergreen forest
Key identification features : Trees up to 18 m tall; bark brownish, scaly and flaky; blaze light orange; branchlets lenticellate. Leaves are simple, alternate, clustered at twig ends; obovate and rounded at the apex, lateral nerves are straight and ascending, glaucous beneath. Flowers are in panicles. Fruit is an ellipsoidal berry.

Comments : Occasional in evergreen forests on the hills above 1000 m and also in sholas.
