Key identification features : Perennial prickly herbs. Leaves simple, alternate with rather long leaf stalk. Flowers tiny and densely arranged on elongated inflorescence. Seeds are shiny black.

Comments : On plains to 1500 m, abundant near village wastelands and sometimes also a weed of cultivation. A ready colonizer on new roads.
