  • Key identification features : An erect herb with fleshy stem and branches up to 80 cm tall, puberulous, stem is thick and fleshy, tumid below the nodes. Leaves are chartaceous, ovate, pubescent beneath, glabrous above, lateral nerves 3-5 pairs. Flowers are in few-flowered cymes, bracts are ovate, 3.5 cm long. Calyx 3 mm long, glabrous within, 2-lipped. Upper lip is broadly ovate, lower lip lobes are lanceolate. Corolla pale lilac, or light blue, tube is gibbous, decurved about the middle. 4-lobed with lobes being shallow. Nutlets are subglobose, reddish-brown, dotted with brown spots, smooth and about 1.5 mm across.

  • Comments : Occasional on hills above 1000 m, gregarious by village wastelands, roadsides among rocks on exposed slopes, locally abundant and in shade.
