  • Key identification features : A small armed tree up to 10 m high with laticiferous tissue and light-coloured bark: leaves are narrowly oblong-lanceolate, trinerved. Flowers are in fascicles. Petals long, stamens many (30 to 40), filaments shorter than petals and situated around an epigynous disk. Fruit is globular and crowned by persistant calyx.
