  • Key identification features : A moderate-sized tree, armed with scattered prickles. Branches with stipular spines. Leaves are glabrous with oblong, small, unequal-sided leaflets, often with galls. Flowers are small in long catkins and with an yellow petals. Pods are turgid, slightly curved, slender and pale brown.

  • Comments : In plains, sometimes gregarious in wastelands. Grows on chromite overburdened dumps. Also planted for land reclamation. Ever-increasing source of fuel for local people and for agricultural implements.
