- Key identification features : A moderate size deciduous tree with small yellowish conical prickles covering the bark. Bark is corky, orange, tinged, with deep vertical cracks. Leaves are compound, having three leaflets and crowded at the branch ends. Leaflets are broader than long, rhomboid, with an entire margin. Flowers are bright red (about 3.5 cm) in fascicles. Flowering follows leaf-fall. Pod is long, tapering at both the ends. Seeds are 2-4.
