  • Key identification features : A moderate-sized deciduous tree. Bark blackish-brown, deeply cleft into rectangular plates. Leaves slightly emarginate. Inflorescence in axillary racemes. Flowers yellow.

  • Comments : Very restricted growth range and grows typically on dry hills, often rocky ground and on precipitous hill slopes up to 1100 m. Also cultivated for its valuable timber. Yeilds a red sap from its bark when cut-open which is highly medicinal.
