- Key identification features : A prickly herb with alternate compound leaves. Leaflets many, on secondary rachis. Flowers minute with reddish-pink calyx and numerous pink stamens aggregated into a globose head. Fruit is a flat pod with constrictions between seeds.

- Comments : Common on plains to 1300 m, along roadsides, forest clearings and ungrazed places. Also found in aggregate clumps along river banks, arable and fallow lands.
