- Key identification features : Armed trees with branches spreading and ending in a spine. Leaves about 5 cm long, ending in a spine. Glands between pinnae, from sessile to long stalked. Inflorescence is a characteristic head or a spike with pink flowers.

- Comments : On plains to 500 m in scrub jungles and deciduous forests. Locally abundant in poor soil.
