  • Key identification features : Leaves dark-green above, glaucous below. Flowers reddish, fruits pendulous, reddish.

  • Comments : On hills up to 1000 m and above, as an undergrowth on the floor of moist deciduous to evergreen forests in sholas. The taxa was reported from Melpatti by Gamble in Flora of Madras Presidency, 1925. Our collection from Melpatti is after 90 years.
