- Key identification features : Moderate-sized trees with young parts tomentose. Bark is red when cut. Petiole up to 17 cm long. Leaves orbicular, large, acuminate at apex, glandular pubescent beneath. Flowers concealed by bracts. Bracts sessile, broadly ovate, without apical gland. Calyx valvate, spiltting open into 2-3 lobes. Ovary globose, bilocular, style lateral.
