- Key identification features : A perennial subshrub up to 1 m high, branching from the base. Leaves are simple, alternate, lanceolate with blunt-toothed margin. Inflorescence is mostly terminal, the male and female flowers are on same branch. Flowers are small, inconspicuous; male flowers with both sepals and petals, whereas female flowers have only sepals. Stamens many. Fruit is three-lobed, dehiscing into single seeded bits.

- Comments : An introduced species. Widely naturalized in wastelands, forest clearings, degraded ghats, village side and in plains of fallow lands. A ready colonizer.
