  • Key identification features : A small tree to large shrub. Leaves are alternate, sometimes fascicled, obovate and glaucous beneath. Flowers are solitary or in fascicles. Petals are greenish-white. Stamens are monadelphous. Fruit is a drupe with a single seed and bright red when ripe. Common in scrub jungles. Bark is brown, relatively smooth with faint irregular anastamosing fissures.

  • Comments : Occasional on the foothills of scrub forest and open deciduous forests up to 1000 m. Fruits ripen red and edible.
