  • Key identification features : A large shrub; branches hirsute when young. Leaves ovate with petioles about 6 cm. Spikes capitate; bracts ovate-lanceolate, bracteoles linear. Calyx lobes linear, Corolla white with a short tube, cylindric. Stamens 4.

  • Comments : On higher hills to 1200 m, on shola floor. Often gregarious. Flowers very rarely, Gamble reported in flower in 1884 and then in 1910 (Fischer) and in December 1980 to January 1981 by Matthew.
