  • Key identification features : A small tree. Bark is greyish-back, cleft in regular scales; the inner bark is quite black. Branchlets fulvous-pubescent. Leaves up to 8 cm long, lanceolate, acute at apex, coriaceous, midrib pubescent beneath. Male flowers are usually 3-merous, in short axillary 1-5 flowered cymes. Female flowers are solitary or in pairs, 3-merous. Fruit about 7.5 mm long, ellipsoid, fulvous-hairy when young, seated on the lobed cup-shaped calyx.
