• Key identification features : A perennial herb with slender rhizome, bearing black fragrant tubers. Stem triangular. Leaves are long and linear. Flowers are in simple or compound clusters on an elongated stalk, reddish brown in colour.

• Comments : Weed of moist soils and irrigated lands; those in marshy areas are taller. Tubers are medicinal and used in perfumery.
