  • Key identification features : Rhizome is long, creeping, densely clothed by lanceolate, entire, brown scales. The stipes are slender, upto 8 mm apart, scaly at base, glabrous and dark, glossy above. The lamina is bipinnate, lanceolate; pinnae asending, basal two to three pairs bipinnate, upper ones pinnate; pinnules stalked, parallelogram-like, lower edge v-shaped, entire; veins dichotomously branhed; terminal veinlets parallel to the soral outline; indusium reniform or rectangular, translucent; spores trilete.

  • Comments : Lithophytic; 'According to Holttum (1954), the botanical name, Adiantum (unwetted) refers to the pinnae not getting wet by water-drops. Occassionally seen close to streams and on sheltered earth banks, also cultivated.
